Police call off search for missing man after 'extensive search'
73-year-old Keith's dog returned home without him on the 4th December
Avon and Somerset Police say they have made the 'difficult decision' to pause searching the a missing man, who's not been seen since December 4, amid 'extraordinary' weather conditions.
Keith went missing from home at 9.30am that day when he was walking his dog, and officers add amid extensive searches by police officers, divers and drones; volunteers and other organisations, Keith has not been found.
Officers add the river was in full flood, and if Keith did enter the water, it is likely he may have been swept into the River Avon, estuary and subsequently into the Bristol Channel.
They say there's 'no evidence' to suggest any third-party involvement and Keith’s disappearance remains an active missing person investigation.
Despite police not actively searching the area now, they do say they will continue to look into any new lines of enquiry should they develop.
Everyone investigating Keith’s disappearance, including his family, would like to thank the public for their support and help in trying to locate him.
Anyone with information about Keith’s disappearance is asked to contact the force.
