Avon and Somerset Police have launched an appeal for witnesses after a man died in a fatal collision in the small town of Pilning.

Officers first received reports of a collision on Station Road in the town in the early hours of Sunday morning (February 25th).

When responders arrived at the scene shortly after 1:40 a.m., they saw that a van had collided with a parked vehicle.

The driver of the van, a man in his 20s - who was believed to be the only person in the vehicle at the time, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene, despite emergency services' best efforts to resuscitate him.

Following the news of his death, the man's family has been informed and they are receiving support from a specially-trained officer from the force.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident, with house-to-house enquiries taking place to try and piece together how the collision came about.

The force have now appealed for any witnesses or anyone who may have vital information to get in touch with them as soon as possible.

In particular, officers are welcoming CCTV or dashcam footage from the road in the lead-up to the incident.

Anyone who may have any information that could help police is being urged to contact Avon and Somerset Police by calling 101, including reference number 5224049045,
