A murder investigation is underway after the death of a man in North Somerset.

A man was found seriously injured at an address on Upper Church Road in Weston Super Mare this morning - and died at the scene

Two men in their 40s who were also injured have been arrested.

The incident all started when police were called out initially to the Royal Grosvenor Hotel in Knightstone Road, shortly after 4.15am today (November 27), to reports of a robbery.

At the hotel, officers spoke to a man they thought to be the robbery victim.

He was taken to another address, over at Upper Church Road, where they found another man inside, who was seriously injured.

Despite attempting to carry out CPR, and paramedics being called out, he died at the scene.

Two men, in their 40s, have been arrested on suspicion of murder and were taken to hospital with injuries.

They have since been released from hosptial and are currently in custody.

It's not yet clear what the connection is between the hotel and the other address, however, the Major Crime Investigation Team are leading the inquiry into what happened.

CCTV footage is being reviewed by officers and house-to-house enquiries are being carried out.

Upper Church Road

Cordons are in place at the address in Upper Church Road, the Royal Grosvenor Hotel and the former Methodist church in Upper Church Road, and they're set to be there for some time, as investigators carry out enquiries.

People in Knightstone Road (Lower Church Road to Greenfields Place), Lower Church Road, Lovers Walk, South Terrace, Park Place, Royal Crescent, Upper Church Road (Lower Church Road to Raglan Place), Raglan Place, Greenfields Place and Victoria Park are being asked by police to leave their bins out.

Inspector Graeme Hall said: "This is a tragic incident in which a man has lost his life.

"While our investigation is still at a very early stage, we do not believe there is any wider risk to the public.

"We know that while these incidents are incredibly rare, they can be upsetting and cause concern among the community.

"To provide reassurance to local residents, neighbourhood officers have increased patrols in the area and we'd encourage people to approach them if they have any questions."

A forensic post mortem examination will be carried out to determine the man's cause of death.

His next of kin has been told and will now be provided with support by specially trained family liaison officers.
