Man sentenced for his role in Bristol disorder

He is the 34th person to be sentenced in connection with the disorder in summer

A man, from Fishponds, has been jailed for 18 months after pleading guilty to violent disorder in Bristol.

Avon and Somerset Police confirmed Abdinasir Hussein threw missiles in Redcliffe Way during the disorder in Bristol on 3 August.

The 24-year-old attended Castle Park and was stood among the counter-protesters before later being seen on CCTV in Redcliffe Way.

Hussein pleaded guilty to violent disorder after having been seen to throw a missile on two occasions.

He was sentenced at Bristol Crown Court on the 22 October.

Hussein is the 34th person to be sentenced in connection with the disorder in the summer.

Detective Chief Inspector Tom Herbert said: “Abdinasir Hussein’s actions contributed significantly to the disorder we saw that day, as the judge clearly set out in court today.

“We have made it consistently clear that we would not tolerate the violent behaviour we saw that day and more than 30 people have now been sentenced, most of whom are now serving custodial sentences.”
