Man charged in connection with Bristol boatyard blaze

A man from Knowle has been charged with offences including arson to intent to endanger life after a blaze ripped through Underfall boatyard in the early hours of Saturday morning.

In the early hours of Saturday morning (May 6), police were called out to the site near Cumberland Road to assist teams from the Avon Fire and Rescue Service.

Last night (May 7), a 45-year-old man was confirmed to have been arrested in connection with the fire, and now he has been charged with a number of offences committed at the Bristol boatyard.

Robert Boyd-Stevenson, of Headford Road in Knowle, has been charged with arson with intent to endanger life and arson with recklessness as to whether life was endangered, in relation to this incident.

Avon and Somerset Police say he has also been charged with a stalking offence.

He has been remanded ahead of appearing before Bristol Magistrates Court today (May 8).
