Labour have announced their candidate to fight the General Election in North East Somerset and Hanham.

Dan Norris will go head to head with current Conservative MP Jacob Rees Mogg.

The former child protection officer was elected West of England Mayor in 2021 and was the former MP for the area between 1997 and 2010.

The Former Environment Minister is a long standing animal welfare advocate and is Chair of the League Against Cruel Sports.

He said: "I am delighted and proud to have been selected as the Labour candidate. This is my home and I’m passionate about making it the best it can be.

"North East Somerset and Hanham is a highly marginal seat and it’s one where only Labour can beat the Conservatives.

"After fourteen years of the Conservatives, more and more people tell me they want to turn the page.”
