Joint letter issued to parents and carers after death of 16-year-old in Bristol
Avon and Somerset Police and Bristol City Council have sent a letter this week to parents and carers
A joint letter has this week been issued to parents and carers of pupils who attend schools in Bristol following 'the tragic events of last Wednesday'.
Avon and Somerset Police, as well as Bristol City Council, have penned the letter, saying both parties are 'working closely' to support schools impacted by the death of 16-year-old Darrian Williams.
Currently, two teenagers have been remanded into custody after brief, separate, appearances earlier this week at Bristol Youth Court.
On Sunday night (February 18), Detective Inspector Neil Meade, the senior investigating officer, said: “Our thoughts tonight are with Darrian’s family following this development.
“We continue to deploy significant resources into the investigation and we will keep them fully informed as it progresses.”
He added: “Knife crime destroys lives and we’re committed to working with our partners and the communities we serve to do everything we can to prevent tragic incidents such as this from happening and to educate young people about the consequences of carrying a knife.”
