An investigation's started into the death of a man in Pill - which is not being treated as suspicious.

His body was found in water in the Chapel Pill Farm area yesterday afternoon - close to the M5 motorway.

Police have informed the family of a man reported missing in Bristol last month.

In a statement, Avon and Somerset Police said: "We were called by a member of the public to the Chapel Pill Farm area of Pill at around 3.30pm yesterday (Wednesday 5 February), after a body was seen in the water.

"Emergency services attended and a man was recovered from the water but was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

"While formal identification has not yet taken place, the next of kin of a man who went missing in Bristol last month have been informed and are being given support by a specialist officer.

"The man's death is not being treated as suspicious and officers are working to prepare a file for the coroner."
