Huge fire on Bristol harbourside breaks out overnight

A huge fire has broken out overnight on Bristol's harbourside in the early hours of this morning (6th May).

The Fire Service's Control Room tweeted just after midnight that they were dealing with a "large fire" at Underfall Yard in Hotwells with multiple fire engines in attendance.

Around 20 residents and their pets have been evacuated from nearby buildings and boats.

Police, firefighters and Bristol City Council remain on the scene this morning.

The Mayor of Bristol, Marvin Rees, has tweeted his "thanks" to the Emergency Services that responded to evacuate people form the "serious fire" at Underfall Yard overnight.

Videos shared online show the huge fire at Underfall Yard, with some describing it as a "huge inferno"

Bristol City Council say they are working with partners within the emergency services to investigate the cause of the fire and assess the situation.

People are being advised to avoid the area, and those living nearby are being encouraged to keep their windows and doors closed
