Bristol Sport Foundation is proud to announce that FareShare South West has become the latest charity partner to sign up for Break The Cycle 2023.

Break The Cycle has raised vital funds for Bristol Bears Community Foundation and Bristol Sport Foundation since its inception 13 years ago.

Taking place on Sunday, July 16th, the 2023 edition is giving participants and charities the chance to raise money through sponsorship for a cause of their choice for the first time.

And FareShare South West has followed in the footsteps of the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust by partnering with the Bristol Sport Foundation for this year’s ride, encouraging participants to get on their bike to raise funds for the region’s largest food charity.

Participants can choose to cycle one of three brand new routes through the Mendips, designed by triple Olympian Oli Beckingsale. Riders can take a Bronze (42 miles), Silver (66 miles) or Gold (100 mile) cycle loop, that all start and finish at Ashton Gate Stadium.

Depending on your cycling ability and how much of a challenge you are up for, there is something for everyone and the event promises to be an amazing day in the saddle.

Sophie Coles, FareShare South West Fundraising Manager, said: “FareShare South West is delighted to be joining forces with the mighty Bristol Sport Foundation for Break the Cycle 2023. Over the last few years, Bristol Sport Foundation staff and volunteers have shown their support for our work by helping pack and deliver emergency food parcels for children and families across Bristol and this brilliant fundraising event marks an exciting next step in our partnership.

“The need for food from charities, schools and community organisations across the region is greater than ever before. By working together to raise funds and awareness of the food poverty crisis, we can do more to support people that have been pushed below the breadline by the cost-of-living crisis.”

Ben Breeze, Chief Community Officer at Bristol Sport Foundation, said: “We’re delighted to have FareShare South West on board as our latest charity partner for Break The Cycle 2023. Since opening this year’s event as a vehicle to raise funds for individual fundraisers or charities, we have seen huge interest from organisations to get involved and are expecting to confirm more sign ups in the coming weeks.

“Whether you’re an individual raising funds for your own cause or a charity looking for an event for your fundraisers to take part in, Break The Cycle 2023 is an inclusive event that has a route for every cyclist. This year’s ride is already on course to be our biggest and best event yet, so get in touch now if you’re interested in getting involved!”
