Drivers are braced for a month of overnight closures on parts of the M5 - starting this evening (April 26) - and running until the middle of May.

National Highways is advising drivers to follow the diversions around Junction 14 of the M5 and Junction 17 for the closures, which are needed to allow for concrete repairs to the Almondsbury bridge deck and to install new bridge deck joints, with work on schedule to finish ahead of the summer getaway.

Closures will take place from 9pm in the evening until 5am the following morning:

  • Friday 26 April – M5 J17 to J15 northbound
  • Saturday 27 April – M5 J17 to J14 northbound
  • Sunday 28 April – M5 J14 to J17 northbound and southbound
  • Monday 29 April – M5 J14 to J17 northbound and southbound
  • Tuesday 30 April to Thursday 23 May – M5 J14 to J17 northbound and southbound, overnight closures will be in place Monday to Friday

Work will be carried out overnight when there are fewer vehicles on the road, whilst the road will be open as usual during the day.
