A Wiltshire man has been found guilty of attempted murder after stabbing a man in the neck in Devizes last year.

Kubilay Bostanli, 27, of Anzio Road, Devizes, was also found guilty of assaulting an emergency worker.

Around 12:30pm on 29th June last year, Bostanli was seen chasing a man in his 20s near Sidmouth Street.

He assaulted the man inside a butchers shop, before chasing him to Estcourt Street.

During his attack Bostanli stabbed his victim twice in the neck and caused other injuries to his face and ear.

When police arrived, Bostanli assaulted the officer trying to detain him by pulling her around by her hair.

DC Jo Newbery from CID said: "This was a sustained and terrifying attack during which the victim fought for his life.

"Kubilay Bostanli used extreme violence against his victim, which was witnessed by a large number of people given the time of day and location of the assault.

"I'd like to thank the victim for his bravery in working with the police, and who medical staff say is lucky to still be here.

"I'd also like to take this opportunity to thank the three members of public who helped to provide first aid to the victim."

Bostanli will be sentenced at Winchester Crown Court on 4th April.
