Piutau launches Tonga Tsunami relief fundraising appeal
Charles Piutau has launched a fundraising appeal to support communities affected by the devastating Tsunami in Tonga.
On January 15th, a massive underwater volcano erupted, flooding homes and cutting off communication and supplies.
The Bears utility back is supporting the international aid operation, raising awareness and funds for the Friends of Tonga charity, an organisation directly engaged in supporting the local disaster relief efforts: https://www.friendsoftonga.org/
Piutau said: “There is great concern that drinking water supplies could be contaminated by the ash, whilst we are all concerned about contaminated air for people in Tonga's outlying islands.
Alongside many others of Tongan heritage, I am making this collection to provide help for those who desperately need support and shelter at this difficult time.”
As a gesture of Charles' gratitude for your support, he has pledged to select an individual at random to win a signed pair of his boots.
You can see all the information for that over on the Bristol Bears website.
