Avon Fire and Rescue say a former funeral directors was hit by what they think to be a deliberate fire last night (25 June).

It's the second time in the space of a month the building on Church Road in Redfield has caught fire.

Crews from Temple, Kingswood and Portishead were called to the scene at 19:30 last night following reports of a blaze in a building on Church Road in Redfield.

In a statement, Avon Fire and Rescue told us: "Firefighters from Temple, Kingswood and Portishead attended the scene and found a derelict building alight.

"Crews used two high pressure hose reel, three jets and one turntable ladder to extinguish the blaze. Four firefighters wore breathing apparatus for safety.

"The drone team from Portishead were also in attendance and use the drone to carry out checks and monitor the building.

"The cause of the fire is thought to be deliberate."

Back on June 4th, plumes of smoke could be seen across the city following a blaze at the very same building, which saw six engines deployed, two with high-reaching ladders, from a number of stations across the region - involving teams from Temple, Kingswood, Bedminster and Weston-Super-Mare.
