After nine successful festivals in Eastville Park - the Tokyo World Festival in Bristol has been cancelled.

Organisers say they've done it with a 'heavy heart' but haven't been able to find the right solution to keep the event safe and secure.

They've thanked their thousands of supporters over the years - and have hinted that they 'may be back next year', but if it was to return, it would be in a brand-new location.

This year's line-up was due to see Pendulum and Rudimental headline - along with the likes of DJ and electronic legends DJ Fresh, Bad Boy Chiller Crew, The Blessed Madonna, Frankie Wah, Belters Only and Vibe Chemistry.

For 2023, the city's epic urban and dance festival was also due to host 20,000 fans over the two days, along with the much-anticipated afterparty put on for revellers keen to carry on the party.

However, that's now not meant to be, despite trying to work with the council and the local police to find 'workable solutions to the challenges' of Eastville Park - notably for the priority of safety.

On Facebook, people have been sharing their disappointment, calling it 'one of the best' festivals they've been to.

Cat Manaei said: "The love for this family ❤️ safety first!!!! Xxxxx"

Lulu Baggins added: "Gutted! Last years was one of the best I’ve been too! Such a shame!"

Alex Harley called for a more suitable location too, adding: "Gutted! Last years was one of the best I’ve been too! Such a shame! X"

Despite the festival's growth, organisers have been clear that the challenges of the site mean 2022 was probably their last year at Eastville Park, if it were to return in the future.

On social media, they added: "We've held 9 Successful Festivals at Eastville Park Bristol and would like to thank everyone who has supported us.

We are deeply sorry to share this news and will do all that we can to ensure we are back next year at a new location."

All Day Tickets, Weekend Tickets, Group Tickets and Instalment Tickets will be refunded at face value.

TheTicketSellers & Ticket Tek will process refunds to the card used to make ticket purchases.
