Appeal for man who could have 'vital information' after fatal stabbing

Police want to identify a man on a bike who might have crucial information after a 30-year-old was fatally stabbed in St Paul's earlier this week

An appeal's been launched by police to identify a man who might have crucial information after a 30 year old was fatally stabbed in St Paul's on Tuesday night.

Detectives are looking for a man spotted on a bike in the area, carrying a large blue food delivery bag at about 20:30.

A 43-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder over the night of Tuesday 5 March and Wednesday 6 March remains in custody while enquiries continue.

Avon and Somerset Police say the man may have information which could form a vital part of their investigations - but are insisting they do not think he is involved in the incident in St Pauls on Tuesday night (March 5).

Detectives believe the pictured man (below) was in Grosvenor Road and Ashley Road at about 8.30pm on Tuesday at around the same time the 30-year-old man was stabbed.

The victim was taken to hospital by a member of the public where he tragically later died.

The man police say they want to speak to is described as having been wearing black clothing and riding a dark-coloured bicycle with a large blue food delivery bag at the time.

Senior investigating officer Det Ch Insp Phil Walker, of the Major Crime Investigation Team, said: "Our investigation into Tuesday's incident and the circumstances surrounding it is now well underway.

"We believe this man may have information which could prove crucial and we would urge him to come forward and speak to us.

"I'd also like to stress that we do not believe this man has had any involvement in the incident."
