Woman assaulted in car near Gillingham

The victim was given a lift home by a passing stranger afterwards

A woman's been assaulted in a car near Gillingham, with police investigating what happened.

The victim, in his 50s, was a passenger in a vehicle on the B3081, which came to a stop in School Lane just after midnight into the morning of Sunday 6th October.

She was assaulted and then fled the car, walking a short distance, before a passing stranger gave her a lift home.

She suffered injuries to her head and hand in the incident.

A 51 year old man from Gillingham has been arrested on suspicion of assault and released on bail while enquiries continue.

There's now an appeal for witnesses to contact officers.

PC Katie-May Parsons, of Dorset Police, said:

“I am continuing to investigate this incident and would ask anyone who saw any suspicious activity involving a man and woman in the area to please come forward.

“I would also like to hear from the person who reportedly gave the victim a lift home in their car to see if they can provide any information that may aid my investigation.”
