Two police officers assaulted in Weymouth
They'd been attending reports of a woman being assaulted
Two police officers have been assaulted after going to the scene of a reported assault on a woman in Weymouth.
They were called to Commercial Road at around 11.20pm last night (Wednesday 7th August).
The individuals involved in the initial incident are believed to know each other.
Neither of the officers attacked suffered serious injuries.
A 33 year old man from Weymouth has been arrested on suspicion of assault and drugs offences and remains in police custody.
We're told there's no wider threat to the public.
Enquiries are ongoing into the full circumstances of what happened.
