Stolen car involved in Bournemouth crash

An 18 year old man's been arrested

A stolen car's been involved in a collision in Bournemouth, that left a man needing hospital treatment.

A silver Hyundai crashed with a Skoda Octavia taxi on St Peter's Road at around 3.30am on Saturday (1st April).

The taxi driver, a man in his 40s, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The occupants of the Hyundai left the scene.

Enquiries by Dorset Police found the car had actually been stolen from Grantham Road in Boscombe, having last been seen at around 7.00am the day before (Friday 31st March).

An 18 year old from Bournemouth has since been arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and driving offences.

He's been released on bail while enquiries continue.

Investigations Officer Steve White, of Bournemouth police, said:

“We are continuing to investigate this matter and I would urge anyone with information that might assist our enquiries to please contact us.

“I would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision, or the manner of driving of the Hyundai prior to it, as well as anybody who may have relevant dashcam footage.

“I would also like to speak to anyone with information regarding the reported theft of the vehicle.”
