New soft play to open at Boscombe leisure centre
BCP Council's invested in the facility - ahead of opening in April
A new soft play facility's been completed at a Boscombe leisure centre - and will open in a matter of weeks.
BCP Council's been working on the Kings Park site for months, using Government funding.
There'll also be an extended café and a multi-use function space opening at the site at the beginning of April - along with improved heating and ventilation and new ramps to boost accessibility.
A multi-use sports floor is the final piece of the work, to provide space for activities like badminton, pickleball and martial arts.
It's believed the refurbishments will see an additional 11,000 participants take part in sports and activities.
Cllr Richard Herrett, Portfolio Holder for Destination, Leisure, and Commercial Operations at BCP Council, said:
“I am looking forward to the opening of this brilliant new facility in Kings Park - delivered because of feedback from the local community.
“Thousands of people have already benefited from the support offered at Kings Park Leisure and Learning Centre and this refurbishment further demonstrates our commitment to ensuring it serves the residents and community of Boscombe and BCP as a whole, long into the future.
“Work over the past few months has transformed the space into an area that will benefit the entire community and provide a great destination for families to socialise and have fun.
“The facility, managed by BCP Leisure, will help generate income which the Council can then reinvest into the continued development of Kings Park Leisure and Learning Centre.”
