Pony seized in relation to animal welfare investigation in Dorset

A pony has been seized in Dorset in relation to an animal welfare investigation.

The three-year-old was assessed by vets, after being taken in under the Animal Welfare Act for unnecessary suffering.

We're told investigations are continuing.

In a statement, the Rural Crime team said: "A pony has been seized in relation to a welfare investigation.

"Kate from RCT, NPT from Sherborne, RSPCA Inspector and an Equine Vet attended a site Near Sherborne today (13 June) and seized a 3 year old pony.

"After an assessment from a vet the Officers seized the pony under the Animal Welfare Act for unnecessary suffering.

"The pony is now receiving the care and treatment it needs.

"The investigation into the matter remains live so we are unable to share any further detail at this time."
