Police 'aware' of 'unauthorised gathering' in Bournemouth
Officers say they've been 'liaising with the organisers' to make sure there's no 'significant' disruption
Dorset Police say they're 'aware' of a planned event due to take place around Bournemouth Pier later.
It's understood a dispersal notice has already been granted meaning they'll use the force of the law against anyone intent on causing disorder.
They add a number of visible officers will be on patrol as part of their response to summer demand.
In a statement on social media, Bournemouth Police said: "Our Police Officers are out in number on #BeachBeat foot patrols across day and late shifts on Friday, Saturday and Sunday this week.
"This is a standard response to summer demand around the Pier, Bournemouth Square and the Gardens. This operation forming part of our #GoodSafeSummer campaign in Bournemouth Town Centre (and across the county).
"Our Officers can be approached for advice, information and photos!
"We have intelligence about an unauthorised gathering in the vicinity of Bournemouth Pier on Saturday evening.
"This event has not be authorised by any professional body, or local business, and will be a priority for our attention.
"A pre authorised dispersal notice will be in place.
"Our message remains - If you are coming to Bournemouth to cause crime or disorder, expect to be dealt with robustly using the full range of legislation available to us, including arrest and prosecution.
"If you observe something of concern please contact us directly."
