'Much-loved' staff member at Poole High School dies after ladder fall

A much-loved member of staff at Poole High School has died after an accidental fall from a ladder.

Pete Myers, who was cared for by ambulance teams, devoted more than thirty years to the school.

A spokesperson for Poole High School says Pete was known for his kindness and passion for helping others, and he will be missed dearly.

They add that their thoughts are with Pete’s family and friends, and hope they find comfort knowing he made a real difference to school life.

Poole High School's spokesperson confirmed: "A much-loved member of our staff team, Mr Pete Myers, died on Thursday. This follows an accidental fall from a ladder earlier this week, which was attended to quickly by both the ambulance and the air ambulance.

"Pete devoted over 30 years of his life to our school, he was genuinely one of the most caring and considerate of people. His passion for helping those around him was clear to everyone who had the privilege of meeting him. He took a huge amount of pride in seeing our children thrive. We will all miss him dearly.

"First and foremost, our thoughts and prayers are with Pete’s family and friends. We have passed on the condolences of all the staff at Poole High School. We hope that they take some comfort in knowing that Pete made a real difference to the lives of everyone at Poole High School.

"Given that this only happened so recently, we are all still in shock about this tragedy. We are sure that, when the time is right, we will come together to collectively remember and mark what a true gentleman Pete was."
