Monmouth Man Sentenced to 4 Years Detention After Pleading Guilty to the Manslaughter of Andrew Nicholas.

The teenager who plead guilty to the manslaughter of a man found unconscious in Monmouth has been sentenced to XX at Newport Crown Court.
Morgan Wainewright, from Monmouth, plead guilty at Cardiff Crown Court in November where he plead guilty to the manslaughter of 43-year-old Andrew Nicholas. He was 19 at the time of the attack.
Nicolas, who was from Poole and was visiting Gwent on a golfing trip, was found unconscious on a Monmouth Street after being assaulted by Wainewright at around 1.15 am on the 26th of June.
Morgan Wainewright had been under the influence of alcohol, Ketamine and cocaine and had gotten into an altercation with a group of men outside a pub. CCTV showed that Andrew Nicholas had tried to punch Wainewright. Moments later, Wainewright punched him back.
Mr Nicholas hit is head on a curb as he fell down where Wainewright then punched him a second time as he lay on the ground.
He died four days later on June the 30th after suffering a cardiac arrest.
Prosecutor Jim Davies said "It was a blow that caused Mr Nicholas to fall to the ground and lose consciousness, which he never regained.
"The pathologist concluded the cause of death was blunt head injury.
"The incident was recorded on the council's CCTV system and the footage shows the nature and extent of the defendant's attack on Mr Nicholas.
"The defendant made no effort to assist the victim and left the scene before the police attended."
Mr Wainewright would later hand himself into police.
Judge Danial Williams gave Wainewright a four year sentence at a young offenders institution
Judge Williams said he felt that Wainewright either "intended some harm or (was) at the very least reckless" when he punched Mr Nicholas.
"The offending is aggravated by you having committed the offence while under the influence of drink and drugs," he said.
"The court must reflect the fact in order to do justice in this case that this was reactive violence on your part.
"Nothing that this court can do can undo the wrong you have done or reconcile those who loved Andrew Nicholas so much to their loss."
