Man suffers head and face injuries in Bridport assault

It's alleged the victim was chased by a group of people

A man's suffered serious head and facial injuries in an assault in Bridport.

The victim, who's in his 40s and from Weymouth, was walking in the Fulbrooks Lane area with a woman, in the early hours of New Year's Day (Monday 1st January 2024).

He was allegedly threatened and assaulted by a group of four men and two women.

The men then chased him along St Swithins Road, where he went into a block of flats and was assaulted again.

He needed hospital treatment for his injuries, with the incident happening at some point between 2.00 and 4.00am.

Detective Constable Fiona Napier, of Weymouth CID, said:

“I am appealing to anyone who witnessed any suspicious behaviour in the area at this time and has information about what happened to please come forward.

“I am particularly keen to speak to the woman involved in the incident.

“Furthermore, I am keen to hear from anyone who may have relevant footage of the incident, either on home CCTV, dashcam or a mobile phone.
