A 20 year old man from the London area has been arrested and released on bail while enquiries continue.
Just fifteen minutes later on the same evening, officers were also called to an altercation involving a group of teenage girls, near the Pier Approach underpass.
Two males were also believed to have been involved, with police officer assaulted.
A 19 year old man from Southampton has been given a caution for a public order offence, with a 17 year old boy issued with a dispersal notice to leave the area.
