Man in his 90s fighting for life after articulated lorry collision

Police are appealing for witnesses to a crash in Ferndown which left a man in his 90s fighting for his life in hospital.
The pedestrian was seriously injured in a collision with a white articulated lorry on Ringwood Road, near to the White Heather pub.
Dorset Police officers were called to the scene at 5.33pm on Tuesday (October 5th).
The pedestrian was taken to Southampton General Hospital by ambulance to receive treatment for what are being described as serious injuries.
His family have been informed.
The road was closed between the junctions of New Road and Church Road for police investigation work but had re-opened as of Wednesday morning.
Police Sergeant Sarah Jones, of Dorset Police's traffic unit, said:
“An investigation is underway and I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision to please contact Dorset Police.
“I would also urge any motorists who were travelling in the area at the relevant time to please check their dashcams for any footage of the incident that may assist my enquiries.
“Finally, I would like to thank motorists for their patience and understanding during the road closures. These are absolutely necessary to allow emergency services to treat the injured man and for an examination of the scene to be carried out.”
