Further arrest made following serious Weymouth assault

Detectives are still looking to trace another individual though

A fifth arrest has been made by detectives investigating a serious assault in Weymouth - and released CCTV of a further person they want to trace.

Two men in their 20s were involved in a fight with a group of up to eight people in Westham Road, in the early hours of Sunday 27th October.

One victim suffered a fractured jaw, and the other sustained a cut lip, laceration to his ear and swelling to his forehead.

Four local men, all aged 19, were previously arrested on suspicion of GBH and assault occasioning ABH - and released under investigation.

Now, a 20 year old man from Weymouth has also been arrested on suspicion of GBH and assault occasioning ABH.

He's been released under investigation too.

There's now an appeal to trace a further individual pictured on CCTV.

Detective Constable Megan Matthews, of Dorset County CID, said:

“We are continuing to investigate this matter and we have now obtained a CCTV image of a further man we would like to identify as part of our enquiries.

“I appreciate his face is covered but we are hoping someone may be able to recognise him from his general build and clothing.

“We would ask anyone with information regarding his identity to please make contact with us.”
