Emergency gas works forces Dorchester road closure

It's close to where some existing roadworks are also taking place

Emergency gas works have forced the closure of a Dorchester road, causing traffic tailbacks in an area already affected by other works.

SGN is working on Maiden Castle Road from this morning (Wednesday 12th March), with a timescale not set out by the supplier.

But it's close to the temporary four way traffic lights on the Maumbury crossroads, while improvements works are made there.

Dorset Council have asked drivers to be patient and allow more time for travel if possible.

Vehicle access for residents is being maintained, with pedestrian and cycling access not affected.

It also comes as gas engineers investigate a potential leak at Weymouth Way.
