Residents group has offer accepted to buy Dorset pub
Campaigners want to save the Elm Tree Inn at Langton Herring
Villagers who've fought to save their local pub in Langton Herring say their offer to buy it has been accepted.
The group has raised more than £500,000 and found fame on TikTok during the campaign.
Residents uploaded Gen Z-themed videos, to highlight their fundraising efforts.
The pub itself closed down in 2023, with a push to make the venue a community hub for locals and visitors.
A successful crowdfunder's helped them put in an offer, with contracts going through solicitors at the moment.
Nick Carroll, Chair of the community group, says The Elm Tree will become more than just a pub:
"We want people to come in mid-morning for coffee, then at lunchtime, it'll be soup and sandwiches and maybe a pint for the walkers and the birdwatchers, and then in the evening coming out for a nice meal, and the idea is that it'll vary through the day and touch various types of people."
