Durdle Door ranked UK's best place to watch sunset

More than 50 viewpoints were analysed to get the results

Dorset's Durdle Door has been named as the best place in the UK and Ireland to watch a sunset.

Analysis of more than 50 viewpoints has come up with a list, based on social media posts, hours of sunlight, rainy days and online review rankings.

The study by Auto Trader comes as searches for 'best sunset spots' on TikTok have gone up 200% in the last year.

Our county can also boast another landmark among the list, with Corfe Castle placing 10th.

The figures show Durdle Door received an overall score of 273 out of 300.

That's thanks to 22,900 posts on TikTok and 327,000 on Instagram per year.

It also ranked as the sunniest spot in the top 10 with over 1,904 annual hours of sunshine and just 117 days of rain.

Corfe Castle scored 204 out of 300 in the rundown.
