Cows rescued from slurry pit
The animals were fine but fire crews 'needed decontaminating'
Two cows have been rescued from a slurry pit at a farm near Wimborne.
The animals fell into the pit, which is 15ft deep, and were submerged up to their necks.
Firefighters from Verwood attended, and a specialist technical rescue crew from Poole was able to remove the cows, using animal strops.
A farm telehandler was also used to assist the rescue.
Dorset & Wilts Fire and Rescue Service said both cows seemed to be non the worse for their ordeal.
The crews, however, 'needed to decontaminate'.
