Christchurch man charged with robbery and attempted robbery

A 28 year old man's due in court in connection with four incidents

A Christchurch man's been charged in connection with a string of robberies and attempted robberies in the town, and in Bournemouth.

The first incident saw a man allegedly make threats towards a 13 year old boy outside Lidl in Christchurch on May 28th, with the victim's bike stolen.

Two days later, a man's reported to have grabbed a 12 year old in Whitehayes Road and tried to steal his bike - but was stopped when the victim's dad was alerted.

Then last Friday (14th June) a man demanded money from the till of Uppercut Barbers on Christchurch Road at around 11.15am.

It's alleged a member of staff was bitten on the arm during the incident, and needed hospital treatment.

Finally, at around 9.15pm on Friday, a man's reported to have gone to the Iford Stores in Christchurch Road, threatening staff with a knife to demand money.

A 28 year old man from Christchurch has been arrested and charged with robbery and attempted robbery, to appear at Poole Magistrates Court today (Monday 17th June).

Detective Inspector Darren Moores, of BCP CID, said:

“These types of offences can be extremely distressing for victims and we are committed to thoroughly investigating reported robberies to identify those believed to be responsible.”
