A Bournemouth GP surgery could become a dental surgery.

The owners of the Banks Medical Centre building in Wimborne Road have been given planning consent to change the use of the first and ground floors from four doctor’s consultation rooms to four dental treatment areas.

Documents with the planning request to BCP Council says the use as a GP surgery was intended to end in December 2024.

However, a statement on the medical practice website, says the Winton site will now remain open until at least March 2025, while the search for a new premises in the area continues:

“The partners of the practice are still actively working for new premises or a solution, as they wish to remain in the Winton area for our patients. Thank you all for your understanding and the partners are working behind the scenes to secure some kind of presence in the Winton area.”

Other internal changes to the building have also been agreed under the planning consent including to a fire escape stairwell and to air conditioning units and some minor alterations to the car park.

The application was made by the owner of the building, Charminster House Properties.
