More than 1,700 cars were issued penalty notices over the weekend

More than 1,700 vehicles have been issued penalty charge notices this weekend alone - as people flocked to Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole - with BCP Council issuing the fines on people parking where they shouldn't be amid the soaring temperatures.
We're told these numbers are the most over a weekend in 2025 - with high figures also recorded for June 21st and 22nd, as well as the 28th and 29th, both of which also saw beautiful weather across our part of the world.
Reports say car parks were full pretty soon on Saturday and Sunday - forcing many drivers to find alternative places to leave their vehicles.
BCP Council - on their social media - showed a number of cars also being recovered.
They said on Saturday: "We continue to remove cars that obstruct a key route or restrict access points for emergency vehicles.
"Here are two more that we've ticketed and towed this afternoon.
"Visiting Bournemouth tomorrow? Please use Avenue Road or Richmond Gardens Multi Storey and Hawkwood Road Car Parks as these have plenty of capacity and are only a short walk from the seafront."
Their final figures for the three hottest weekends so far in 2025 of the number of penalty charge notices issued are:
- 21-June – 834
- 22-June – 530
- 28 June – 446
- 29 June – 611
- 12 July – 879
- 13 July – 823
