Gas works on the A350 through Sturminster Marshall means the route will have to be shut for a month.

SGN will be carrying out 'essential' work to replace the existing metal pipes with modern plastic ones.

They company say that'll mean the community 'continues to receive a safe and reliable gas supply', reducing the risks of leaks in the future.

But the underground pipes cross the centre of the road, and means the route has to be closed throughout, starting from Monday 18th November.

The A350 will be shut from the A31 junction at the Roundhouse Roundabout to the north side of the crossroads for Dullar Lane and Station Road.

Signed diversions will be in place during the works, which have to use other A roads.

Shorter routes may be available to drivers with local knowledge.

Susan Day, Stakeholder and Community Manager at SGN, said:

“We’ve worked closely with the local authorities in planning this work and we will be doing everything we can to limit disruption during our essential project.

“We appreciate that roadworks can be frustrating, however, the new plastic pipe has a minimum lifespan of 80 years. This means once the work has been completed, Sturminster Marshall homes and businesses will enjoy the benefits of a continued safe and reliable gas supply for many years to come.”
