People were evacuated from their homes last night after a large industrial fire broke out in Sturminster Marshall.

45 firefighters from across the county were called to the building off Dorchester Road, just before 7.30pm.

Two crews remain at the scene this morning.

A spokesperson for Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue told us:

"There will be a better indication of how the incident is progressing once it’s daylight and we can hopefully use a drone to gauge where the fire is still burning.

"A fire investigation will start later today when it’s safe to do so.

"Some people living close to the fire were temporarily displaced last night, and our thanks go to the Red Lion in Sturminster Marshall for looking after them."
