Two men are being held over violence that broke out before an Aston Villa game in November 2023.

Five officers were injured after Legia Warsaw fans clashed with police before their Europa Conference league Match at Villa Park.

Now, West Midlands Police says it has been working alongside colleagues at the Met Police, and made the arrests during Chelsea’s home match against Legia Warsaw on Thursday night, after sending officers to the fixture to look for outstanding suspects.

Two men, aged 45 and 30, were arrested on suspicion of violent disorder.

The 45 year-old was also arrested under the extradition act as he is wanted by Polish authorities for offences relating to burglary, robbery and drug trafficking which date back up to 20 years.

Detective Inspector Tom Lyons, said: “We worked closely alongside the Met Police to make these arrests and it just goes to show how relentless we are in pursuing suspects.”

Two trials have been set for 2025 and 2026.
