Tamworth man jailed for hiding Class A drugs in a sock

A drug dealer in Tamworth has been jailed after Staffordshire Police found deals of cocaine hidden in a sock.

36-year-old Arben Qema was stopped on November 6th 2024 by police on Marlborough Way in Wilnecote, who then searched his car.

Qema, of no fixed address was found hiding a sock under the handbrake in his car with 14 deals of cocaine inside.

The 36-year-old was charged with possession with intent to supply cocaine, using a motor vehicle without third party insurance and driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence.

He was sentenced to two-years-and-seven months in prison on Wednesday (29th Jan), after previously pleading guilty to all of the offences at an earlier hearing.

Staffordshire Police have reassured they are working proactively to target criminal gangs responsible for drug dealing and high-harm offences.
