Services are being held across the West Midlands today (10 November) to mark Remembrance Sunday.
The ceremonies will honour those killed and injured whilst serving the country in conflicts.
In Birmingham, the annual service will take place on Colmore Row, opposite St Philip’s Cathedral. It will be attended by military veterans and representatives of the region’s Armed Forces.
The parade will begin from Temple Row, with a service and two-minute silence following.
Wreaths will be laid at the Cenotaph by representatives from the Armed Forces, veterans’ organisations, faith and community groups.
The Lord Mayor said: “On Remembrance Sunday we prepare to honour our promise never to forget all those who made the ultimate sacrifice, and I encourage Birmingham’s citizens to join us on Colmore Row to observe the act of remembrance at 11am.
“It is important that we take time to remember all the men and women who gave their lives while serving their country, at war and in peacetime, who gave their todays for our tomorrows.”
In Coventry, a Remembrance Sunday Service will be held at the War Memorial Park.
During the service, wreaths will be laid including the Civic Wreath by the Lord Mayor of the City of Coventry.
A service will also be held at Coventry Cathedral, and thousands of poppies dropped from West Orchards Shopping Centre as a two-minute silence is held.
Hundreds of veterans, serving military personnel, civic leaders and community groups are also expected to join ceremonies in Wolverhampton, Oldbury, Leamington, Shrewsbury and at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire.
