Police in Stourbridge are appealing for information after a man trying to rescue a stray dog on a busy road was injured in a hit-and-run.

The 37-year-old was hit by a red Mazda 3 on Lye Bypass, near to the junction of Jackson Street at around 4:40pm On Thursday, 14th of November.

He had been crossing the road but spotted a pug near a bus stop behind Wollescote Community Centre on Wassell Road.

The car was later found and seized for forensic examination.

West Midlands Police said no arrests have been made and are appealing for anyone with dashcam footage or knowledge of what happened to come forward.

The man is now recovering at home but it is unclear what happened to the dog following the incident.

The driver of the car has been urged to get in touch with them as soon as possible.
