Man found hiding in bushes after shooting a gun in Erdington jailed for over nine years

Ryan Carroll has been sentenced to nine years and two months after admitting possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and when prohibited.

A man who was caught hiding in a garden bush shortly after firing a gun in Erdington has been jailed.

Police were called to Montague Road following disorder where a weapon was brandished on 14 December last year.

Officers rushed to the scene and, with the help of a police dog, found Ryan Carroll hiding in a bush on the street shortly afterwards. We also recovered a shotgun nearby and Carroll was arrested.

The 28-year-old admitted possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and when prohibited.

Carroll, of Rosary Road, Erdington, was jailed for nine years and two months at Birmingham Crown Court on Thursday 18 July.

Fortunately, no one was injured and no damage was caused as a result of the gun being fired.

Stechford Major Crime Team secured the conviction and are continuing to carry out enquiries into the wider disorder. This saw a number of vehicles damaged.
