Man arrested after brass eagle stolen from Birmingham church
The 61 year old is in custody
Officers investigating the theft of an historic brass eagle lectern from a church in Birmingham have arrested a man.
Police recently appealed for information after the lectern was stolen from St Augustine's Church in Edgbaston on 10 June.
Following enquiries, neighbourhood officers identified a suspect and a 61-year-old man was today detained on suspicion of theft.
He is currently in police custody.
The eagle later turned up at a scrap metal dealer but has now been returned to the church where it belongs.
