A 14-year-old has appeared in court, charged with the murder of 12-year-old Leo Ross who was stabbed to death on his walk home from school in Birmingham.
He has been remanded in custody over the stabbing which happened in a country park last Tuesday (21st Jan).
The defendant, who cannot be named due to his age, appeared at Birmingham Magistrates' Court, sitting as a youth court with a closed public gallery.
The boy spoke only to confirm his name, age, address and was seen in the dock wearing a black hoodie.
He was then remanded into youth detention accommodation.
The youth is accused of murdering 12-year-old Leo on January 21 and three unconnected counts of assault alleged to have been committed on January 19, 20 and 21.
He also faces a further three counts of assault relating to alleged attacks on police officers on November 26 last year and on a woman on October 22, 2024.
Adjourning the case until a hearing at Birmingham Crown Court on Tuesday (28th Jan), District Judge David Wain told the youth a mention hearing for two of the assault charges would be held at Birmingham Youth Court on Thursday.
