Police find over 300 cannabis plants in raid at Kidderminster property
West Mercia Police said an investigation has been launched into the farm
Police have unearthed a large cannabis farm at a property in Kidderminster.
Officers from West Mercia Police were alerted to reports of damage to a property on Lower Mill Street in the town at around 10:30pm on Thursday evening (June 5th).
Investigators had been told that a door into the building had been smashed and that lights inside the building were on, leading to officers being deployed to check for any potential trespassers.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found that a cannabis farm had been set up at the property, containing around 300 plants, with one third of them having already been cultivated and harvested.
During their search, no one was found in the building - which meant that officers could not arrest anyone.
However, an investigation into the incident was raised by West Mercia Police as officers work to determine who was behind the grow.
The National Grid was later called to the scene to help safeguard the property, while a police cordon was temporarily placed around the property so police could carry out investigations.
The plants have since been removed from the building and will be destroyed.
