With Halloween done and dusted, Birmingham is now welcoming Christmas 2024.

The Frankfurt Christmas Market in the city opens today (Friday 1 November).

It's the biggest authentic market outside of Germany and Austria, and attracts more than five million visitors every year.

The market in Birmingham city centre will be open daily for the next seven weeks, up until Christmas Eve.

The famous market has even been voted the 'Best Christmas Market in the UK' for the second year running.

Visitors can enjoy over 100 stalls which are set up along New Street and Victoria Square. They include drink and food stalls where you can grab a beer, mulled wine or hot chocolate.

Train operator CrossCountry is urging rail passengers travelling to and from the seasonal market to check their journey and avoid the last train home where possible.

The markets officially open at 11am this morning (Friday 1 November), with a light switch on and ceremony happening this evening.
