Fourth man convicted of killing man in Harborne

A fourth man has been convicted over the killing of Richard Hopley who was attacked and stabbed during a robbery in Harborne.
Ayub Khan was part of a group who ambushed the 43-year-old in Underwood Close on 22 September 2022.

Birmingham Crown Court was told Mr Hopley had been driving around a drug dealer and after arriving at the pre-agreed location he was attacked by a group of robbers.
Khan was carrying a knife at the time, although he wasn't the one who stabbed Mr Hopley as he tried to drive off.
However, the killing occurred during the group's robbery attempt and shortly afterwards Khan fled the UK.
After Khan left the country three others were convicted over Mr Hopley's killing and involvement in the robbery. Overall, they received more than 50 years imprisonment.
Khan was arrested on his return to England last September and following a trial he was convicted of murder and conspiracy to rob on Friday (14 February).
The 29-year-old, of Metchley Drive, Harborne, has been remanded ahead of sentencing on 25 February.
Mr Hopley managed to drive a short distance after being stabbed before collapsing at the wheel and crashing his car.

He had been stabbed in the chest and later died from his injuries.
Police say they always sought to identify all those involved in his terrible death, continuing enquiries following the previous convictions.
Police say they now believe they've traced everyone who was part of the tragic events of 22 September 2022 and that their thoughts remain with Mr Hopley's family and friends.
