Police in Birmingham are continuing their investigation after a 16-year-old boy was stabbed in Bordesley Green.

The attack happened on Pretoria Road at around 3:30pm on Saturday (15 Feb).

Police looked into claims of disorder at two Birmingham hospitals, which were believed to be linked to the incident. But they have now updated the public to say these reports, in which it was claimed ambulances were being raided and unable to drop off patients, were false.

West Midlands Police said on their website: "False claims are being made on social media and repeated in the community.

"We have spoken to officers who attended the hospital with the victim, along with hospital staff on duty at the time as well as ambulance officials. All have confirmed that these rumours are untrue, unhelpful, and damaging to the caring service they provide."

A protest was held in on Pretoria Road yesterday (16 Feb) following the attack, where locals called for more to be done to combat knife crime in the city.

The teenager remains in hospital with serious injuries, but is thought to be in a stable condition.
