A member of the Birmingham Six, the group wrongly convicted for the Birmingham pub bombings, has died at aged 80.

Paddy Hill's death was confirmed by the Facebook page for the 'Miscarriages of Justice Organisation', a group that he set up.

In 1974, he was convicted of the Birmingham pub bombings when explosions at the Mulberry Bush and Tavern in the Town killed 21 people.

Johnny Walker, Richard McIlkenny, Gerry Hunter, Billy Power and Hugh Callaghan were also imprisoned.

After serving nearly 17 years in prison, in one of the worst miscarriages of justice seen in Britain, the Birmingham Six were freed on 14 March 1991 after their convictions were quashed.

The 'Miscarriages of Justice Organisation' said on Facebook that Hill died this morning peacefully at his home.

They shared that their condolences are with his loved ones and ask that the family's privacy is respected at this time.
