West Midlands Ambulance Service said they had their third busiest New Years Eve heading into 2025.

They received around 2,764 calls from 6.00pm on the 31st until 6.00am on the 1st. It is a difference of 12 compared to the 2,776 from last year.

They took a total of 9,965 calls on both New Years Eve and New Years Day. That is a drop of 5% compared to last year.

West Midlands Ambulance Service, Chief Executive, Anthony Marsh, said: “A massive thank you to the hundreds of staff and volunteers who worked over this period, many giving up time with their family and friends to work additional shifts and support the service through these notoriously busy periods.

“It’s not just those on the road, but also the team in our control rooms and also the staff who support these colleagues in areas such as vehicle preparation, mechanics, stores, distribution and IT; it is a real team effort," he said.
